Hello my name is Oliver Harris and this is David Christian and we would like to welcome you to our new debate. This house belives that home work should be banned .Homework is a task (often called an assignment) set by teachers for students to do outside normal lessons.
This is an irritating problem and our school educators will not sovle the problem, but our idea will

Homework has little educational worth and adds nothing to the time spent in school. Some schools and some countries don't bother with homework at all, and their results do not seem to suffer from it. Studies show that homework adds nothing to standardised test scores for primary/ elementary pupils. As Alfie Kohn notes, no study has ever found a link between homework and better tests results in elementary school, and there is no reason to believe it is necessary in high school.Students in Japan and Denmark get little homework but score very well on tests. If anything, countries with more homework get worse results!

Homework takes a lot of time up. In America, they encourage the '10 minute rule', 10 minutes homework for every grade, meaning that high-school students are doing more than an hour of homework each night.
Being young is not just about doing school work every night. It should also about being physically active, exploring the environment through play, doing creative things like music and art. It is also important for young people to build links with others, especially family and friends, but homework often takes the time available for all these things.
Homework puts students off learning. Studies have shown that many children find doing homework very stressful, boring and tiring. Often teachers underestimate how long a task will take, or set an unrealistic deadline. Sometimes because a teacher has not explained something new well in class, the homework task is impossible. So children end up paying with their free time for the failing of their teachers. They also get punishments if work is done badly or late.
But Homework encourages students to work more independently, as they will have to at college and in their jobs. Everyone needs to devlop responsibility and skills in personal organization, working to deadlines, being able to research, etc.A gradual increase in homework responsibilities over the years allows these skills to develop . For instance, to read a novel or complete a research project, there is simply no time at school to do it properly.
Having homework also allows students to really fix in their heads work they have done in school. Doing tasks linked to recent lessons helps students strengthen their understanding and become more confident in using new knowledge and skills. For younger children this could be practising reading or multiplication tables. For older ones it might be writing an experiment, revising for a test and reading in preparation for the next topic.
Education is a partnership between the child, the school and the home.Homework is one of the main ways in which the student’s family can be involved with their learning. Many parents value the chance to see what their child is studying and to support him in it.

In my opinion we should ban the homework, because i,personally, hated to do homework. It never helped me when it was given by the teacher,i allways did some exercises alone without that anyone told me to do it and i enjoyed and loved it,so we should let the student choose when he wants to do exercise and when not.We have have to also ban the punishment, because the student will hate doing exercises after being punished and he will scamp it.
Thank you .

Pakistan faces global anger over bid to execute man jailed over killing aged 14.

Pakistan is prepairing to execute a man, named Shafqat Hussein, convicted over a murder committed when he was 14,in a move likely to provoke a storm of international anger

Hussein has been on death row for 10 years. The hanging would be the second to follow a lifting last week of Pakistan's moratoriumon executions for crimes other than terrorist offences.A moratorium on the execution of terroristswas discarded in December after Taliban gunmen killed 150 people at a school in Peshawar.
Hussain, from the poor Neelam valley, went to Karachi aged 13 to join his brother, Manzoor, and work as a caretaker. He was arrested a year later, after the disappearance of a tenant in the building following a dispute and, said Belal, illegally held, bound, blindfolded and beaten. After nine days of torture, Hussain signed a confession and was tried, for reasons unknown, in a special anti-terrorist court where an appointed lawyer failed to ascertain his age or produce any defence witnesses.
Hussain was sentenced to death in 2004 and lost an appeal in 2007. The sentence is now back in force after the 12 March announcement lifting death row moratoriums for all crimes, a move condemned by Human Rights Watch as an “ill-conceived decision” opening the way for “an execution spree”. Pakistan has more than 8,000 prisoners on death row.
Shafqat’s brother Manzoor said: “We are very poor people and we cannot buy justice like the powerful. The government said he should not be hanged when the international community and media were paying attention, but now they are not concerned. The government is only interested in showing they are doing something about terrorism. But my brother is not a terrorist.”

Cas report (14-04-15)

It has been 5 months, now, since i started playing Football at the Sharjah Wanderers Club.I really like it ,the coaches are nice, some of them are from Algeria ,they have a good pitch with natural grass. It's really hard in the UAE to find a stadium with good grass ,because of the heat.
The only problem is that our group is mixed ,there are good players and there are incompetent players ,i think the caches should do 2 seperate groups, the good ones ,and the bad ones. It's really hard to play with players who can't even control the ball or give a good pass ,these are the basics of Football, every u-18 player should actually know them.
But even with these players i noticed that my level and skills became better,my physical contition also ,but now i feel like im staging on the same level,i'll try to work harder and improve more,I still have time till the end of June,we have also a tournament this week end,so maybe only the good players will be invited.
Even through all those critics I am still enjoying it.

After the holidays I started to go to the Gym wich is located in my building and i am planing to continue with it.I am training every Friday,Saturday,Sunday and Wednesday and on the rest of the Weekdays i am doing Football,so my week is full of sports.I am trying to avoid the carbohydrates and all the stuff that contains Sugar and I am not eating that much like before,in the day 2 or 3 Bananas and some fruit are sufficient, but i have to drink a lot of Water to keep my body hydrated.I hope to get results soon.

MR.TAMAS,don't worry, I am doing my homeworks before every Sport session.😇

I also did some Parkour with Issam in the weekends at 5:00 am,we jumped around and climbed some obstacles up,it was very nice but too easy.

I also did things for Service.I was the DJ with Issam in two of our school parties and we are planning to do it in every party,we were responsible for the music and the party ambience.I am also working with my class on the Banda Aceh project .

For creativity i tried to do Violin in a Music Center,it ended up with me avoiding the courses, the lesson was boring ,the teacher was talented, but I had the envy to sleep.

I hope that i will do more things in Creativity because I am not really that Art lover. But the Question is what is Art ?(TOK).Well, for me football is an art.
That was my CAS report, and the evidence is down here .

14 April 2015-TOK

Today Mr.Tamas showed us the plan for the next 10 weeks, unfortunately we have to write 2 entries every month in TOK.
We talked about our TOK presentation and our TOK essay.
Mr.Tamas wants us to present infront of the teachers and students,I have no problem with this idea but the whole class is against it ,Sophie wanted to discuss it with Tamas but he just said:"i don't want to spend 6 months discussing this" and continued with the topic.
We also talked about our Banda Aceh project,we won't be able to get the last week of the term off (to fly to Banda Aceh),so we searched how to arrange it and how to organise it.
In the last 15 minutes Alya was annoying me ,Sophie was lying on the table, Mariam was taking Selfies,Sofia and Mustfa were playing with their hair,i was the only one who was concentrated even if i was writing my entry, suddenly Alya and I started to speak French.
Mr.Tamas explained the Knowledge Framework and their components.
